Who We Are
In the language of the Igbo people of Nigeria, “Adaora” means “daughter of the people.” Here at Adaora Ceremonies, we see our ministry as a service to all of God’s children, and we are honored to walk with you during this special moment in the circle of life.
Our Story
In 2014 we officiated our first wedding for a close friend in need of a competent minister to perform her interfaith wedding ceremony. The bride grew up primarily within the Christian tradition, while the groom was a devout Muslim. Both bride and groom honored traditional African spiritual practices, and they wanted a wedding ceremony that spoke to their unique love story and faith perspectives.
Since then, we have accompanied many more couples on their wedding journey! And, as those couples began to start their own families, we expanded our services to include baby dedications and naming ceremonies, mother’s blessings/blessingways, house blessings and, funerals.
Our Founder
Minister Jasmine Terry Okafor, M.Div. is a metro-Atlanta native, and is currently embracing her greatest ministry as a wife and new mom to her toddler daughter. In addition to her role as a ceremonial minister, Jasmine also works with a nonprofit organization that educates chaplains & spiritual caregivers of all faith traditions. Jasmine is passionate about the intersections of faith and justice, empowering marginalized communities and creating a safer world for all to thrive. Jasmine brings these commitments to every couple she has the privilege to journey with, and to every ceremony she leads.
Our Ceremonies
We are honored to journey with you. As such, all of our services include an initial consultation where we get to know you and your vision for your special occasion. We have officiated intimate, socially-distanced ceremonies, as well as large, 150+ person love celebrations. What matters to us is not the size of your event, but the love and intention that goes into making your special day sacred.
